Sweet Layers of Learning: Knafeh Magic at Beyond Fun!

If joy had a flavour, it might just be knafeh.

This week at Beyond Fun Centre, the crew dipped into the rich world of Middle Eastern desserts, with Fran leading the way as our fearless (and flour-covered) teacher. On the menu? Knafeh that irresistible sweet treat made with shredded pastry, melty cheese, and rosewater syrup.

Michelle, Addison, Hayden, Cooper, and Jade are already seasoned in the art of knafeh. They teamed up to show Nat, Amanda, and Matt exactly how it’s done. They didn’t just follow a recipe; they passed down technique, tradition, and laughter.

As the kitchen filled with the buttery smell of golden kataifi and bubbling syrup, everyone got hands-on, ulling pastry, layering cheese, and sneaking a few syrupy bites when Fran wasn’t looking.

It was more than just making dessert. It was about sharing knowledge, building confidence, and celebrating culture through food. And, of course, the reward was that first bite of warm, gooey knafeh, crispy on top, creamy inside, and full of sweet joy.

Moments like this remind us that learning tastes best when it’s shared.
