Spice, Laughter & Wok Magic: The Crew Cooks Up Thai Basil Chicken at Beyond Fun!
There's nothing quite like the smell of garlic and chilli hitting a hot wok, and this week at Beyond Fun, it was Pad Kra Pao time! The crew gathered for another unforgettable cooking session, diving headfirst into the world of Thai street food.
Armed with a handwritten recipe, loads of Thai basil, and just the right amount of chaos, we recreated one of Thailand's most beloved dishes: Thai Basil Chicken. The process was organized cooking and joyful experimentation; some carefully chopped bird's eye chillies while others bravely taste-tested the fish sauce (with mixed results!).
The secret to Pad Kra Pao? High heat, fast cooking, and that magical combo of umami, heat, and herby freshness. Served over steaming jasmine rice and topped with a crispy fried egg, this dish had us all going back for seconds (and thirds).
Beyond just the food, it was about coming together, sharing stories, and enjoying the spicy joy of cooking something truly delicious as a team. We even had a spontaneous sambal vs sriracha debate mid-meal. As always, the best part was sitting together to share the feast we'd created.
